Devin was/is Elton John circa 1970s for Halloween. The only pictures we have of her whole costume are on my camera, and I've been too lazy to upload them. Instead, this is a shot our friend took at our huuuuuuuuge Halloween bash. She was tired of her sunglasses by then. Ah well -- still cute.

pic of Devin

PS: You can see a super-awwwwwww shot of Devin and Brandt at my super-AWWWWWesome neighbor's blog:

Seth is a photojournalist and writer for Motley Fool. Every now and then he wanders outside with his camera... and the best photos we have of Devin result. We have a gorgeous framed shot of her and Seth's dog, Zucca, hanging on our living room wall. Oh, and on the same blog you can see Seth and his wife, Jenn, doing the Red Dress Run in DC. Funneh.

Shhh, don't tell Seth, but we bought him lotsa beer.

We have the best neighbors.

I couldn't find anything like this after 10 minutes in the memories, but I'm happy to take memory links if anyone has better luck.

Because of the summer heat, my 18-month-old daughter has now had two yeast infections in her diaper area. After the first, we decided to try and address the systemic issues as well as treating any future infections topically -- we moved even further away from refined sugars and grains than we already were and tried to keep her overall sugar intake even lower. We also started giving her some of the Activia yogurt with her regular milk (my husband and I also drink it), but the benefit of the probiotics seems a little counteracted in this case with the added sugar. We give her the plain flavor, and even THAT has 12 grams of sugar.

Does anyone have a home recipe for a probiotic drink we could try with her? Or can we just use small amounts of probiotic capsules and add those to her other drinks? Bonus points if it's a medium that can pull double duty for her AND us, since we'd really like to get away from those little containers.

I promised Mo I'd post this with Devin's 1-year letter. I'm not finished with the letter, but I can't wait to post the photo anyway.

I got your hey-oh.

Now someone find me a high res file of the original Charlie's Angels TV graphic and I'll let you see why in about two weeks!

I almost never do memes, but I like the one that bigeyedem just posted.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

As I watch him, I remember a voice from the previous day: "He must have had an iron gullet. He poured coffee down the way you empty a water glass into a sink. And always black."

I love that book.

two things

1. Devin turned six months old yesterday. My baby is half a year old.
2. The Rav4 told us he was lonely, so we bought a bright blue Camry hybrid to keep him company. I have never owned a new car in my entire life, but at least my first is one that actually tends to appreciate in this area. And is pretty.

Brandt brought me a yellow cupcake with chocolate icing from CakeLove. He should be punished for contributing to my ongoing fat cowness. But not right now. Maybe when I'm done with my cupcake.
